Okoboji, Iowa – Imagine Iowa Great Lakes has released construction bid documents for the Promenade, signaling the start of the next phase of the multi-year initiative. The Promenade runs adjacent to Preservation Plaza in Arnolds Park.
The beautification of the Promenade will feature a grove of aspen trees, significant plantings of native species that will help manage stormwater, a gateway sign on the eastern end of the park, and a series of iconic lighted arches that will stretch the length of the Promenade. The Promenade will include designated pathways for pedestrians and bicyclists to promote multimodal movements while minimizing conflicts between these different modes.
“The Promenade beautification will set the standard for the rest of Imagine’s projects. It will introduce the themes that will carry through the remainder of the Park and along the Highway 71 corridor,” said Terry Lutz, McClure CEO. “The enhanced Promenade will transform Park visitors’ experience and will make an already exciting destination even more magical.”
The Imagine team expects to break ground on the project in February 2019, weather permitting, and will complete work on the Promenade in time for the 2019 season.
