Okoboji, IA – (KUOO Radio) A ribbon cutting of the recently renovated State Pier at the Arnolds Park water front will be held Saturday, September 5th.

Michelle Goodenow of Imagine Iowa Great Lakes, which made the project possible, says the State Pier will also be dedicated as a part of the ceremony to honor the late Berkley Bedell. She says, “We were approached by a group of individuals back in January that thought it would be a nice tribute to Berkley to have the pier that was in the process of being renovated named in honor of him. He was such an important part of our community for so many years from creating Berkley and Company to serving, you know, through government and just all his conservation efforts over the years. Saving the park, creating the Okoboji Foundation. So we talked to the HAPI Board and decided that we would move forward and try and get that done so. The DNR agreed to it and voted to allow us to do that.”

The public is cordially invited to attend Saturday’s ribbon cutting and dedication at 11:30 a.m. at the State Pier in Arnolds Park.
